The Sunday Vlog : An Art Seeker Journey With Emma Hill. Hello, Intro
Hi, Emma Hill here, just a little intro to invite you on my artist journey.
In addition, here are 5 arty facts about myself:
1. I didn't get into art school. A huge chip on my shoulder for years. Not anymore - I'm grateful- Although I did go to uni and I have a double honours degree in Art History & Scandinavian Studies.
2. I was cabin crew with British Airways. This became the best art education I could ever dream of, travelling worldwide.
3. My first break into showing my art was a case of mistaken identity, which resulted in me being taken on as New British Artist's Wild Card, selling out a 5 metre wall at the London Art Fair.
4. I have worked as a teaching assistant in a primary school and I have taught art in a prison. For 10 years now I've been teaching art and running the studio at ARTHOUSE Unlimited 3 days a week, celebrating the abilities and talents of artists living with neurodivercity and special support needs.
5. My winning Liberty Open Call painting was an accidental choice. It was the picture I had completed the day I saw the call, so I just added the hashtag. Originally I didn't like the painting - it gave me such a rollercoaster of highs and lows, mostly lows, trying to figure it out. I carved my way out, through layer upon layer of mistakes. Of course now, thats why I love the painting even more, it has a rich story to tell.
Embrace those mistakes - this one found it's silver lining.
